LAKE RIDGE, Va. — A town house in Lake Ridge burned Sunday morning.

The fire broke out at 3511 Covered Bridge Lane off Smoketown Road at 10:06 a.m. Fire crews found smoke to be showing from the roof as they arrived onto the scene. After fire crews entered the house, they found flames engulfing the second floor and attic section of house, according to a OWL Volunteer Fire Department spokeswoman.

A dog was rescued from the house. No residents were at home at the time of the fire.

The blaze was brought under control in less than 20 minutes, according to the spokeswoman. Flames also caused minor damage at the home next door.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

The American Red Cross was called to help the home’s occupants displaced by the fire. They were provided temporary housing.
