WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Baseball is back in Woodbridge. The Potomac Nationals opened their home opener at Pfitzner Stadium playing against the Lynchburg Hillcats.

Just before the 7:05 p.m. first pitch Tuesday, a line of cars all with Minor League Baseball fans inside strung from the stadium’s entrance to the entrance of the Prince William County Government Center, the building the stadium sits behind.

Some of the excitement was spoiled, however, when the Potomac Nationals fell to the Hill cats in a 10-7 slugfest. A team spokesman said the Nationals never garnered a lead or tied the game.

Both teams faceoff again tonight at Pfitzner.

Earlier this year, Potomac Nationals Team Owner Art Silber said plans are still in the works to build a new 6,000-seat baseball stadium at the Potomac Town Center, between a Wegmans grocery store and Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center.
