Robert William Vitek

Robert William Vitek (Bob), 75, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 after a brief illness at Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA.

Bob was born on April 8, 1938 in Danbury, CT, son of the late William and Helen Damiano Vitek. Bob grew up in Pawling, NY and was a graduate of Pawling High School. After high school Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his country from 1955-1959 having achieved the rank of Sergeant.

Bob worked for the Metro Transit Authority as a Track Supervisor for twenty-two years. After retiring in 2002 Bob enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and friends. He had fond memories of his golf trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. Bob enjoyed spending time with his companion, Sherrill Janes.

On June 6, 1964 Bob was married to Mary Ann Vinchiarello Vitek who predeceased him on September 16, 1993. In addition to his parents and loving wife, Bob was predeceased by his stepsister, Donna Dexter.

Bob is survived by his son Robert J. Vitek (Lisa Webb) of Marion, OH, daughter Connie Marie Vitek, Chantilly, VA, stepmother, Helen Young Vitek of Dover Plains, NY, and brother, William Vitek (Brenda Brill) of Granville, NY. Also surviving are six grandchildren Kimberly Price, Rebecca Price, Jonathan Daniel, Jordan Daniel, Bobby Vitek and Christina Vitek, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 5-6 pm at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, VA 22191; a memorial service will follow at 6 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will at St. Charles Cemetery, Dover Plains, NY on June 6, 2014.

Compared to gas, electric lawn equipment can reduce emissions, noise pollution, health risks and maintenance costs and time. The program aims to remove about a hundred gas-powered polluting tools from yards in the greater Baltimore-Washington region.

The exchanges will take place the weekends of May 17-19, 2024, and May 31-June 2, 2024, at A Few Cool Hardware Stores network of employee-owned Ace Hardware stores in the DC and Baltimore metro areas.
