Police Investigate Prince William’s First Murder of 2014

A 21-year-old woman from Woodbridge died Friday night after she was shot inside a grocery store on U.S. 1

Glenda Marisol Coca-Romero, 21, was shot and killed during a robbery at the Platanillos Grocery and Jewelry at 14342 Jefferson Davis Highway about 9 p.m. A second female employee inside the store was also shot and was later taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Both women were employees of the business. Nothing was taken from the store during the incident.

There were two other people inside the store at the time of the robbery who were not harmed, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

Officials released security camera footage taken from inside the store in hopes someone might be able to identity the intruders who are still on the loose.

Witnesses told police they saw three males enter the store prior to hearing gunshots. All three fled the store, possibly on foot, police said.

Police cannot confirm the race of the suspects in this murder, and said there were all wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered. This is the first murder in Prince William County this year.
