A fight broke out at Potomac Mills mall just before 7 p.m. Saturday.
Initial reports of gunshots fired during the disturbance were unfounded, as police report this morning they are only investigating an assault that took place at the popular shopping center.
“Minor injuries were reported after a sole victim was identified. Detectives are working to identify the other parties involved. Initial reports of shots being fired are not accurate,” stated Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
Officials viewed security footage taken during the brawl, as well as spoke to witnesses in the area where the fight broke out to determine there were no shots fired. We don’t know how many people are involved in the incident and there are no reports so far of anyone charged with a crime.
Potomac Mills also has its own private security team on staff at the mall. The guards patrol both the hallways and the parking lots at the shopping center. This morning, we emailed short list of questions to a mall spokeswoman and received a response via Twitter:
