Update 6:30 p.m.

Six people are displaced after a fire ripped through their Lake Ridge home tonight.

The blaze broke out in the basement of the middle-row town home on Eagle Rock Court, near Smoketown Road in Lake Ridge, at 5:02 p.m.

The blaze quickly spread from the basement to the second floor of the house. No one was injured, but the fire did significant damage to the entire house, said Prince William fire and rescue spokesman Curtis Brodie.

A heavy rescue team was called in after concerns arose that the middle floor of the 3-story house could collapse.

After dousing the fire, several fans were brought in to ventilate the home.

Many neighbors stood in freezing temperatures and cold winds to watch fire crews do their jobs. Few had much to say about what they saw here.
