Virginia Commerce Bank Becoming United Bank
DUMFRIES, Va. — Customers at Virginia Commerce Bank will notice their financial institution’s new name on Feb. 1.
The bank, with locations in Prince William, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Fredericksburg, was acquired last year by United Bankshares, Inc. of Charleston, WVa.
The bank will close Jan. 31 as Virginia Commerce but will reopen the following day as United Bank.
More in a statement sent to customers today notifying them of the change.
At the close of business on Friday, January 31, 2014, Virginia Commerce Bank (VCB) will begin operating as United Bank. The result will be the largest independent community bank headquartered in the greater Washington metro area. As a larger, but still local, financial institution, we will be better able to serve your current and future financial needs.
Customers were urged to familiarize themselves with United Bank’s “eBanking” system prior to the changeover.
United Bank serves customers in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.
