Shots Fired Inside Home, Man Charged
MANASSAS, Va. — Police say, man charged with attempted murder after he fired a gun at a couple.

On December 14th at 4:14AM, police responded to a residence in the 11000 block of Wooldridge Dr in Manassas (20111) to investigate a burglary and shots fired call.
The investigation revealed that the victim, a 23 year old man of Manassas, and a female acquaintance, were walking out of his residence when they observed an armed male figure approach them.
The victim immediately closed the door and began running down the hallway with the female when the man forced open the door to the home and began firing towards the victim.
Once the man was inside the home, the female immediately identified the suspect as the accused, a known acquaintance. She was able to deescalate the situation and convince the accused to leave the home.
At that point, another occupant of the home contacted police. As officers were arriving, the accused attempted to flee in a vehicle but was subsequently stopped and arrested without further incident. The firearm used in the incident was recovered.
No injuries were reported during the encounter. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Justin Robert MCELWAIN, 28, of no fixed address
Charged with attempted murder, burglary while armed, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and shooting into an occupied dwelling
