NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Stafford County welcomed its first Five Below store this weekend.

The chain store known for selling t-shirts, makeup, small tech gadgets, movies, toys, and a host of other items all for $5 or less opened its doors in Stafford Marketplace on Friday.

By Monday hordes of shoppers were visiting to the store to find their own special fun items, which included a wide selection of candy and personalized duct tape. A line of shoppers waited patiently in a line for a cashier to ring up their purchases.

The store advertised hot dogs for five cents each as a special promotion for their opening weekend.

The new Five Below store in North Stafford joins other locations in Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge and Central Park in Fredericksburg.

The company opened 27 new stores between January and July bringing their number of stores nationwide to 226 in 18 states. The company also saw a 40-percent increase in sales to $86 million during the same time frame.

A Party City store and a Crave Frozen Yogurt have also recently opened in Stafford Marketplace.
