STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — One man is dead following a two-vehicle Stafford crash in Stafford County. At 4:35 p.m. Thursday, Virginia State Police Trooper A.J. Falkner was called to the scene on Route 17 near Stafford Lakes Parkway.
A 1999 Ford F-350 pickup truck was traveling north on U.S. 17 when, according to witnesses, it suddenly sped up and crossed into the southbound lanes. Heading the wrong way in the southbound lanes, the 1999 F-350 then struck head-on a southbound 2003 Ford F-350 pickup.
The driver of the 2003 F-350 was transported to Mary Washington Hospital, where he died later Thursday night. Virginia State Police are still in the process of notifying his next of kin.
The driver of the 1999 F-350, Frederick C. Frostick III, 23, of Fredericksburg, was also transported to Mary Washington Hospital, where he was treated and released. Frostick has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Speed was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
