Double Fatal Crash Investigated in North Stafford

NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Two young lives were lost in an early morning crash today on Va. 610 in North Stafford.

A 2002 Ford Taurus was traveling east on Garrisonville Road (Va. 610) about 3:05 a.m. Saturday when the driver lost control of the car – which was carrying five occupants – and ran off the side of the road. The car struck a tree just east of Green Acre Drive near the Lake Arrowhead subdivision, spun around and then struck another tree instantly killing two passengers.

Virginia State Police said 15-year-old Stephanie Parnell, of Stafford, and 23-year-old Vincent Anthony Anguiano-Ayala, of Stafford died instantly.

The 18-year-old driver, Alex Christopher Hablas, of Stafford, was taken to Mary Washington Hosptial following the crash. So was 18-year-old Tony Dotson, of Stafford, who was sitting in the center of the back seat at the time of the crash.

Alicia Marie Robillard, 18, of Spotsylvania, was also taken to Mary Washington Hospital. Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt and was sitting in the lap of one of the car’s occupants.

Hablas the driver was treated and released from the hospital and now faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, said Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler.

The conditions of the remaining patients were not released. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Investigators closed a portion of Va. 610 for an investigation following the crash which lasted six hours. Stafford’s sheriff’s office, fire department, and the Virginia Department of Transportation assisted in the investigation.
