Logo Chosen for Stafford’s 350th

STAFFORD, Va. — The logo that will be used to celebrate Stafford County’s 350th anniversary has been chosen.

Developed by the county’s Blue Ribbon Committee, the logo will be used throughout 2014 to mark special events planned for the county’s birthday. It features a geographical outline of the county, incorporates the “Stafford, Virginia” logo commonly seen on marketing materials and on water towers in Stafford, and a depiction of President George Washington as a child playing with a hoop.

Washington grew up at Ferry Farm in Stafford County just across the river from present day Fredericksburg.

A series of events are planned in 2014 to mark the 300th anniversary:

Dec. 31, 2013 – First Night Stafford

Memorial Day Weekend 2014 – Parade and community celebration

July 4, 2014 – Fireworks at Pratt Park / entertainment

September 27, 2014 – Aquia / Crows Nest events

October 2014 – Wings and Wheels airshow

Dec. 31, 2014 – Last Night Stafford

Stafford County was founded in 1664 and now boasts and estimated 132,000 residents.
