NORTH STAFFORD, Va. – A taser weapon was used on a man after a Stafford County Sheriff’s deputy was punched in the face.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Micks restaurant in North Stafford late Sunday after an apparent drunken bar guest had to be removed from the restaurant. Deputies arrived to speak with the man who emitted a strong smell of alcohol while slurring his speech, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

The man refused to provide deputies with ID and then punched one deputy in the face, said Kennedy.

A taser weapon was then used by one of the deputies, and police were able to gain control of the situation. The man was taken to Rappahannock Regional Jail where he was also said to have yelled slurs at the jail staff.

William Peloquin, 30, of Stafford, was subsequently charged in the case, said Kennedy.
