FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Two new agreements between Germanna Community College and the University of Mary Washington will make it easier for students to take classes.

A new co-enrollment agreement will allow eligible students at Germanna to take a limited number of courses at UMW while they are still enrolled at the community college. A new direct transfer agreement will allow Germanna students to transfer into UMW’s liberal studies, or BLS, degree program, said UMW spokeswoman Marty Morrison.

A ceremony marking the new agreements will take place at the University’s Dodd Auditorium at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Germanna Community College operates a center in North Stafford in addition to campuses in Fredericksburg and Locust Grove.

Students at any of Virginia’s 23 community colleges who earn a minimum grade point average and obtain an associate’s degree are guaranteed transfer into more than 20 colleges and universities in the state.
