WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The Southbridge community is missing a monument sign after a car plowed through a brick wall Saturday.

Police were called at 11:27 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of River Heritage and River Ridge boulevards in the Southbridge area of Woodbridge after a driver ignored a stop sign and collided with another car resulting in a T-bone collision. The striking vehicle ran off the road and struck a brick wall outside the Southbridge Community Center, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

The driver was charged with reckless driving and no injuries were reported.

The all-brick wall, a monument sign for the community center, is valued at $10,000. Southbridge Community Association President Jim Riley said the community is working with the police department to reevaluate their damage estimate for the sign, which he said was noted as as $500.

  1. Jim Riley says:

No injuries except for the two people who are STILL in the hospital in Fairfax.  PWC Police need to get their act together.  First putting down that the damage above was only $500 (labor to repair that alone would be more than that) and then saying no one was hurt.

We saw the scene. Looked really bad. It is a HORRIBLE intersection. $500 might pay to replace a few of the letters from the wall.
