Man Dragged on I-95 in Dale City

DALE CITY, Va. — A crash at on Interstate 95 prompted the closure of all three northbound lanes of the highway at Dale City.

A source says the victim was fell or pushed out of a car when the accident occurred. 

Virginia Department of Transportation officials report the crash at the 156 mile post, near Dale Boulevard.

All lanes of the highway were apparently closed so an emergency helicopter could land.

10:15 p.m. Police say man was dragged

Virginia State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle that dragged a Dale City man up Interstate 95 Thursday evening (May 31, 2012).

At approximately 6:50 p.m., dark, late-model sedan was traveling north on Interstate 95 when, according to witnesses, the back, passenger-side door opened and a man fell out near the 156 mile marker. The man was then dragged by the vehicle for more than 200 feet before dropping into the roadway. The sedan continued north on Interstate 95.

The victim, a 35-year-old Dale City male, was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

State police are still trying to determine if the man was thrown or jumped from the moving vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call the Virginia State Police at 703-803-0026. The suspect vehicle was a dark, late-model sedan with two black males and one white male inside.
