Boys and Girls Clubs Choose Youth of the Month

Jada

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The Boys & Girls Club’s Youth of the Month program encourages good citizenship and civic responsibility. Adult mentoring and guidance reinforce the disciplines needed for a life of public service.

Emily

Each month, staff selects a Youth of the Month who demonstrates exemplary character and often serve as leaders to their peers. The Youth of the Months for March of the 2011-2012 school year are Jada Thomas, Emily Mills, and Zainay Akanbi.

Jada is an eight-year-old member of our General Heiser Branch in Dumfries. Jada has been the Power Hour Homework participation winner for the last few months; she is always helpful and courteous. Outside the Club she enjoys participating gymnastics and cheerleading.

Emily is a nine-year-old member of our Hylton Branch in Dale City. Emily participates in our SMART Moves life skills program and our Power Hour Homework program. She often seeks additional support from our staff to ensure her own academic success. Outside of the Club Emily has earned her black belt in Tae Kwon Do and participates in dance and
