Woodbridge, Va. — It will soon be easier to drop train riders off in Woodbridge, give them a kiss and send them on their way.

The Prince William County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved on Aug. 2 a construction agreement with Virginia Railway Express to build a kiss and ride lot at the transit system’s Woodbridge station on U.S. 1.

The estimated cost of $613,509 will be paid for by VRE, according to the agreement, while the work will be performed by a county construction crew.

The project will feature access lanes and a pull-off area on the east side of U.S. 1, allowing passengers to be dropped off at the pedestrian bridge which takes them over the railroad tracks and into the station.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.
