Baseball Bat Attack Leads to Charges

North Stafford, Va. –– A domestic dispute involving a baseball bat and a man struck with a car lead to charges Saturday.

It happened in the 200 block of Garrisonville Road (Va. 610) at 4:55 p.m. in North Stafford, when a man and woman were walking along Va. 610 when another woman driving a car pulled alongside them and began to harass the couple, investigators said.

As it turns out, the driver use to be in a relationship with the male victim, and the two began arguing. The driver struck the male with her car, and then got out and proceeded to hit the victim, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

The woman went on to hit the man with a baseball bat, at which time the woman who was walking with the male victim began wrestling with the woman for control of the bat. The bat-wielding woman also hit the female victim with the bat during the tussle, but the female victim was able to get control of the bat, said Kennedy.

Both victims walked away from scene, but the woman followed them to a parking lot where the woman once again attacked the victim’s, said Kennedy.

A Stafford deputy was able to obtain a phone number of the woman who attacked the victims, tracked her down and later arrested her.

Lydia McCallum, 43, of North Carolina, is charged with attempted malicious wounding, said Kennedy.

The victims suffered injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.

In a separate incident, investigators are also looking for the person who took six car batteries from vehicles parked at an auto shop Friday night.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to Advanced Auto Service in North Stafford after a man went to start his truck and found his battery missing.

Other five other cars were also missing their batteries, all stolen between 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday evening, said Kennedy.

Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact Stafford County Crime Solvers.\
