A free community resource, the PotomacLocal.com’s calendar contains great ideas to keep you busy right where you live.
Start this weekend off at Hoops Fest, where you can check out local basketball talent dunking for a cause. Tickets to the event at C.D. Hylton High School are $10 and proceeds from the event will benefit a local Afghanistan Veteran who’s been paralyzed from the waist down.
On Saturday, there are community cleanups scheduled for both Featherstone Wildlife Refuge and Neabsco Creek.
Also, check out the Potomac Nationals Open House, which will include a number of fun activities and National Anthem auditions.
If you’re looking for something indoors, Cranford United Methodist Church in Lorton will be hosting a Ham and Oyster Dinner on Saturday, as well.
If you’re looking to enjoy the outdoors this weekend, Sunday’s 5K and Deputy Dash for the Holliann Grace Center for Children with Disabilities is a good bet to get some exercise and help a great cause. The event begins with a 5K run and walk at 8:30 a.m. Cannon Ridge Golf Course in Stafford County, and a fun run at 9:30 a.m. On site registration is required.
Tonight at Mountain View High School in Stafford, more than 700 athletes will participate in the Special Olympics Virginia March Madness Championships.
