School board meets for new controller

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – A special meeting of the Stafford County School Board has been called as they look for a new superintendent.
The School Board will meet at 5 p.m. Friday, in the conference room at the Stafford Hospital Center off U.S. 1.
Most of the meeting will be conducted away from the public in closed session according to allowences by Virginia law, said Stafford schools spokeswoman Valerie Cottongim. The meeting will take place during the School Board retreat, also being held that day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On Monday, at the kickoff of an annual school supplies drive, Stafford County School Board Chairman Dana Reinboldt – Griffis-Widewater said at least 25 people applied for the superintendent’s job.
A decision on who the next supervisor could be could come by early to mid-August.
